A blog analyzing Major League Baseball through the lens of Astrology
Welcome to Astrology Baseball, a project where I arrange MLB players into teams based on their astrological signs, and then pit those teams against each other in mock fantasy seasons.

1958 Fantasy Astrology Recap
In the 10-year stretch from 1958 to 1967, only two signs led the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League in point totals. Leo had a seven-to-three advantage over Libra, but the 1958 season went to the Scales, the only sign to score as many as 25,000 points on the year.

1959 Fantasy Astrology Recap
In my recap of the 1960 Fantasy Astrology Baseball League season, I remarked on my anxiety of populating 12 FABL teams from a pool of just 16 MLB teams. Those fears proved to be moot… but as we burst into another decade, we are immediately confronted with some drastic consequences of a league that’s half the size of today’s.

Opening Day 2023
As we prepare for Major League Baseball in 2023, we have one last day without any games to cram in as many sidequests as possible. Read those last-minute magazine articles. Crack open a pack or two of cards. Pop in the newest licensed video game. And reader, I’ve done all of these activities.

WBC 2023 Japan
Japan’s victory in the 2023 World Baseball Classic showcased the number one reason to be excited about Cancer Crabs baseball: two-way superstar and tournament MVP Shohei Ohtani. It’s rare that a player so completely captures the hearts and minds of baseball fans like Ohtani has, and I’m extra excited that he shares an astrological sign with your humble narrator.

WBC 2023 Venezuela
When Taurus second baseman Jose Altuve suffered a fractured thumb from a hit-by-pitch in the World Baseball Classic, broadcaster John Smoltz was quick to defend the tournament. “He would have been at Spring Training, and do you know how many players get hurt in Spring Training? A lot!”

WBC 2023 Dominican Republic
In my last post, I asserted that Team USA had the most star-studded roster in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. I would argue that the Dominican Republic comes in second, despite the fact that they didn’t make it past the Pool Play stage of the tournament.

WBC 2023 Team USA
The World Baseball Classic is moving into the Quarterfinal Stage, with the best talent from around the world representing their countries of origin! With Team USA advancing to the next round of the WBC, I’m looking at the astrological implications of the tournament’s most star-studded roster.

Fantasy Astrology Football
I haven’t watched a single NFL game this season, regular season or playoffs. But based on my quick analysis of fantasy football points and astrological signs, I have a pretty confident pick of who will win the Super Bowl: the Philadelphia Eagles!

1960 Fantasy Astrology Recap
I entered into my analysis of the 1960 Fantasy Astrology Baseball League season with a great deal of anxiety, because it will be the first year in the scope of my project where the Major Leagues had as few as 16 teams. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that all signs were able to find enough players to field full starting lineups, even if some eligibility rules had to be bent or flat out ignored.

1961 Fantasy Astrology Recap
When the universal designated hitter was established prior to the 2022 season, it ended a 50-year streak of the American and National Leagues playing by different rules. But the DH wasn’t the first time the AL and NL were at odds with each other: in 1961, American League teams played 162 games, while the National League was still stuck in the old 154-game schedule.

1962 World Series Teams
1962 was the last Fantasy Astrology recap that I got to during the 2022 season, which is indeed what kicked off the whole “years ending in 2” project of the last several weeks. The real-life 1962 season culminated in a World Series where the New York Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants.

1972 World Series Teams
1972 is a fun year for me to write about, because my favorite real-life team, the Oakland Athletics, won the World Series! Not only that, it would be the first season of a three-year dynasty. The A’s defeated the Cincinnati Reds in ’72 to start their run, which is notable because those two teams would meet again in the 1990 Fall Classic, with the Reds coming out on top that time.

1982 World Series Teams
I have no frame of reference for the 1982 World Series, since it occurred several years before I was born. But a trivial matter such as not yet being alive can’t stop our decade-by-decade look back at the World Series teams from years ending in 2. So here is a Fantasy Astrology-themed look at the victorious St. Louis Cardinals and the American League Champion (yes, you read that right) Milwaukee Brewers.

1992 World Series Teams
Our decade-by-decade look back at the World Series teams from years ending in 2 continues with 1992! This was the first of two consecutive years that the Blue Jays would win the World Series - although fans watching IN 1992 would have no way of knowing that fact. This time they beat the Atlanta Braves in an exciting six-game affair.

WNBA 2022 Leaders
A little-known fact about me: I was so happy about the news of Brittany Griner coming home, that I got really into the WNBA. Not so much watching games, because the season ended in September. But rather digging deep into the 2022 stats of each player the only way I know how: astrologically. What I found was a similarity between the WNBA and MLB at the very top of the fantasy astrology ladder.

2002 World Series Teams
2002 was the first year when two Wild Card teams would meet in the Fall Classic, with the Anaheim Angels emerging victorious over the San Francisco Giants. As you might remember from my last post, the Giants would return to the Series a decade later in 2012, and win it, as part of their even year dynasty.

2012 World Series Teams
A couple of weeks ago, I remarked on Twitter that I find it coincidental that the final reverse-chronological post I made before the end of the 2022 season was about the 1962 season… exactly 60 years ago! In honor of that bit of serendipity, I’ve decided to go back decade-by-decade and look at the World Series winners for the years ending with 2.

2022 World Series Teams
The first ever baseball project I embarked on was back in the summer of 2001. It was a simple Word document, listing the fantasy points for the starting lineup of each team in the league. I’ve enhanced my lists in various ways over the years, including color-coding the lines of players who “started” for their Fantasy Astrology lineups.

2022 Fantasy Astrology Leaders
Having just spent the better part of the last month posting in-depth looks for all 12 Fantasy Astrology signs in 2022, I won’t recap a projected playoff bracket. Instead, since all MLB’s major award winners were announced as of yesterday, I’ll compare those real-life winners to the players who would take home the FABL versions of that hardware.

2022 Gemini In-Depth Look
With the 2022 World Series now complete, let’s continue our in-depth look at all 12 signs in the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League. Gemini had some of the best pitchers in the league, but their offensive attack was so inept, that they ended up at the very bottom of the FABL standings.
