2024 Active Rosters: Sagittarius
If you look at a lineup made of the top fantasy point-scoring Sagittarius Archers in 2024, it’s crazy how little overlap there is with the list of top most talented players in the Sagittarius player pool. A lineup featuring Taylor Ward, Alec Burleson, Ryan McMahon, and Brandon Marsh would be decent… but imagine instead Ronald Acuna Jr. in right field, Christian Yelich in left, Mark Vientos at third base, and Byron Buxton in center field. This is a lineup we could see, were it not for the dreaded injury bug.
Among projected starters who stayed healthy, Pete Alonso at first and Cal Raleigh behind the plate provide some of the best power at their positions in the league. Spencer Steer would likely start more often than not, due to the ability to slot his strong bat in any corner spot on the diamond. Second base would be a timeshare between Jonathan India and Gleyber Torres… although if either Gleyber or Gavin Lux could handle their old position of shortstop, that would keep the Archers from having to run out the equal parts injury-plagued and declining Javier Baez.
It's feasible that the top Sagittarius starting rotation would consist entirely of left-handers. Cole Ragans had the best season, both in total, and per-game fantasy points. Blake Snell was right behind Ragans in PPG, but the defending NL Cy Young Award winner missed lots of time due to signing late, and then injury. Carlos Rodon was a solid number two for the Yankees, moonlighting as an ace when Gerrit Cole was injured. Cristopher Sanchez broke out for the Phillies and made the NL All-Star team.
It's likely that Luis Castillo, one of Seattle’s co-co-co-aces, would take the fifth spot in the rotation. But Sadge did have another starting quality lefty, even though Nestor Cortes moved to the bullpen during New York AL’s playoff run. Speaking of the bullpen, Sagittarius has a generally strong group, led by breakout Giants closer Ryan Walker. In terms of reliever points-per-game, Rays stopper Pete Fairbanks actually led the team, with Trevor Megill next up, while filling in for the injured Devin Williams in Milwaukee (a Virgo, btw). Griffin Jax was a solid setup piece for the Twins. And that’s not even mentioning former Astros closer Ryan Pressly, Orioles trade acquisition Seranthony Dominguez, and the Rogers twins (Taylor and Tyler).
