Welcome to Astrology Baseball, a project where I arrange MLB players into teams based on their astrological signs, and then pit those teams against each other in mock fantasy seasons.
All-2000’s: Scorpio
On Sunday, I began a deep dive into the players with the best career numbers who appeared in a Fantasy Astrology starting lineup any time from 2000 through 2020. This time, I’m looking at Scorpio, since they have the highest aggregate point total of all players who started for them in the last two decades: more than 1.4 million.
Gemini Tarot: The Lovers
With the sun firmly entrenched in Gemini, it’s time for the third installment of my analysis of the connection between astrological signs and the Tarot. So far, we’ve looked at the cards associated with Aries (The Emperor) and Taurus (The Hierophant), and this month we continue on to Gemini with The Lovers.

Last Sunday, I introduced a new database tracking players’ career stats, rather than season-by-season performance. I plan to make this new database a hallmark of this blog moving forward, by analyzing depth charts for each astrological sign going back the last twenty years.
FABL Year to Year Graphs
When I first started by reverse-chronological trip through Fantasy Astrology Baseball League history, I included a graph with each installment that plotted how the point totals of each sign changed year after year. Now that I’m taking a break from this once-weekly feature, this is a good time to return to these graphs and take a big-picture look at how the FABL landscape has evolved over the last two decades.
FABL Roster Moves June 2021
Today is the first day of June, which means we’re in the heart of Gemini season. With this new page on the calendar, it’s time to scour the waiver wire of the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League and add players that were left off their signs’ rosters to start the year.

With my last yearly recap of the 2000 season, I reached a significant milestone: 20 full years of Fantasy Astrology Baseball League history! But before pushing my year-by-year analysis back into the 20th century, I decided to take a break and shift my focus to look at players’ career statistics rather than single season performance.
2000 Astrology Awards Recap
The 2000 MLB season was monumental for several reasons. It was the last year of a Yankees dynasty, a record number of home runs were hit across the league , and it was the first year where the American League and National League stopped operating as separate entities, consolidating under the banner of Major League Baseball.

Last Friday (or Thursday, or Saturday, depending on your sources and your accepted definition of “cusps”), the zodiac wheel turned to Gemini season. In honor of this milestone, I took a lineup snapshot of each Fantasy Astrology Baseball League team, to see how the signs line up just shy of a quarter of the way through the season.

Last week, I started writing about the real life Major League Baseball teams that I would use to stand in for the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League signs. I started with the teams that I thought had the strongest match to a sign, and this time I’ll continue with the bottom half of the league.
2001 Astrology Awards Recap
I’ve already talked a lot about Barry Bonds and his home runs on this blog, but 2001 was the first year when his power hitting exploits put him in the record books. Bonds amassed 73 home runs and 3,618 fantasy points, with an average of 23.6 per game, the highest points total we’ve seen so far in our reverse-chronological trip through FABL history.

Here’s a little trivia about my Astrology Baseball social media presence: I only follow the accounts of 12 MLB teams. Those are the 12 teams I would pick to represent the 12 signs of the zodiac in a simulation of the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League
2002 Astrology Awards Recap
2002 was the first time two Wild Card teams faced off against each other in the Fall Classic. This matchup led to the Angels winning their first (and so far only) World Championship against the Giants, whose offensive attack was led by the fearsome Barry Bonds.
Taurus Tarot: The Hierophant
We’ve got about a week left of Taurus season 2021, which is a perfect time to analyze the connection between the Tarot and the second sign of the zodiac. According to the research I have on hand, the Tarot card associated with Taurus is The Hierophant. In the Baseball Tarot, this card becomes The Manager.
Astrology Sign Essences
When I first built the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League back in 2012, I separated the 12 teams into four divisions based on the classical elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. This structure is fine when building a league from scratch, but it doesn’t work when trying to simulate a FABL season using the current six division layout of Major League Baseball. In order to make this organization work, you have to look not at the four Elements, but at the three Essences.
2003 Astrology Awards Recap
In 2003, the then-Florida Marlins became the first team to win the World Series twice while making the playoffs as a Wild Card team. Since then, we’ve gotten an additional Wild Card entry per league, which also led to the scheduled one-game playoff. As goofy as that concept is, it doesn’t hold a candle to starting extra innings with a runner on second base.

Setting boundaries for myself is the main reason that I only add players to teams via the waiver wire once a month. And with the calendar recently having changed over from April to May, here are some of the top fantasy players that I left on the bench to start the 2021 FABL season.
MVP Baseball 2005 Leaders
When it first came out for the PS2, I thought MVP Baseball 2005 was going to be one in a long line of yearly installments. I thought EA Sports would maintain their license from MLB, and we’d continue to enjoy this franchise for the foreseeable future. But oh, how wrong I was.

MLB The Show 21 Default Rosters
I have logged several hours on MLB The Show 21, but none actually simulating an actual MLB game. Instead, I’ve been meticulously combing through the default rosters for each franchise and plugging each player’s rating and attributes into my 2021 MLB database. Nobody ever said being an astrology baseball blogger was supposed to be exciting.
