2024 MLB Cancer Season Recap

Last weekend, the zodiac wheel turned to Cancer season, which was particularly auspicious for the 2024 MLB season. While most people mark the All-Star break as the traditional halfway point, most teams reach roughly 80 games played much closer to the period of time around the Summer Solstice. So let’s take a look at the standings at the time of the Cardinal Water sign.

Big picture, it’s Virgo on top, as has been the case for the whole season. Ranger Suarez (1,365 total points / 91.1 points-per-game) continues to pitch like a Cy Young Award winner, and Jose Ramirez (1,274 / 18.5) continues to hit like an MVP. It’s scary to think that they just got Gerrit Cole back to join that powerhouse of a rotation.

Libra is back in the number two spot, after falling to Scorpio back in Gemini season. The injury to Mookie Betts (1,135 / 15.8) will hurt the Scales. But luckily their middle infield is plenty deep enough (with backups like CJ Abrams and Bryson Stott) to keep them firmly atop a weak Air Division.

Scorpio is all about Juan Soto (1,332 / 18.0) and starting pitching. I’m actually quite personally invested in Stingers pitching doing well, because both Seth Lugo (1,256 / 78.5) and Tarik Skubal (1,175 / 78.3) somehow ended up on my fantasy team.

In a lopsided fourth divisional race, all three Fire signs find themselves in the bottom quarter of the league. Aries and Leo have vied for the lead all season, with the Rams on top for now, thanks to a resurgent season from ace Chris Sale (1,107 / 85.2). The Lions recently welcomed back Max Scherzer and Luis Robert Jr. from the injured list, but that might not be enough to take the crown.

From an individual standpoint, Taurus center fielder Aaron Judge (1,512 / 20.2) surpassed Cancer DH Shohei Ohtani (1,462 / 19.8) as the highest-scoring player in MLB. Could it be that the Yankees slugger has another run at 62 home runs in him, just two years after breaking the AL record? To end with relief pitching, let’s have Pisces closer Emmanuel Clase (1,233 / 34.3) close out this post, shall we?
