2025 All-Acquired National League

Pisces season is now upon us, and with the last sign of the zodiac wheel comes the start of Major League Spring Training. With the teams’ rosters mostly finalized, it’s time for one of my favorite offseason projects: All-Acquired Teams. This is where I take all the players who changed teams over the offseason, whether by free agent signing or trade, and make one roster per league with all the best of them. We definitely had some marquee signings this year and blockbuster trades this year, including the largest ever contract in professional sports (for the second year running), so let’s get to the lists!

First of all, it’s apparent that the National League has a much more impressive top end. The corner outfield is set, with the Cubs trading for Kyle Tucker and the Mets signing Juan Soto (to the aforementioned largest contract in history). Add in new Diamondbacks ace Corbin Burnes, and the NL has the t0p three acquired players, accoring to MLB.com’s top 100 fantasy rankings. The Dodgers provide the next two pitchers in the All-Acquired rotation, one from a domestic free agent signing and one from overseas. Blake Snell is a two-time Cy Young Award winner, who finally got the big contract he couldn’t secure last offseason. And Roki Sasaki gave up the ability to sign a big contract by choosing to come stateside via the posting system, rather than international free agency.

In terms of batters who had big fantasy seasons in 2024, new Giants shortstop Willy Adames leads the way, with first baseman Josh Naylor and left fielder Jurickson Profar (new to the Nationals and the Braves, respectively) also slated for significant roles. The rest of the infield looks quite shaky, with utility types Gavin Lux (Reds) and Paul DeJong (Nationals) the best options. I have new Dodgers outfielder Michael Conforto slated to handle center field, but if you want someone with 2024 experience, you’d be down to veteran Tommy Pham and power/defense specialist Jose Siri.

As is the case in the rotation, the Dodgers also loom large in the bullpen. Kirby Yates had the best 2024 fantasy season of all acquired relievers, but it’s much more likely that lefty Tanner Scott will close games in Chavez Ravine – his fantasy points were suppressed by the setup work he did after being traded from Miami to San Diego. Interestingly enough, those are the only two dedicated relievers I have on the NL All-Acquired roster. Clay Holmes closed games for the Yankees in the first half, but the 2025-27 Mets plan to use him in the rotation. The opposite is true of Colin Rea, who should be moving from a starting job with the Brewers to a long relief role with the Cubs. Of the rest of the pitchers on the staff, only Brady Singer doesn’t have relief experience, with Nestor Cortes, Nick Pivetta, and even Frankie Montas having spent time coming out of the ‘pen.
